Yes, you’re pronouncing that right. It’s like the nickname for a dachshund or a hot dog. The only thing funnier would be if his name was Oscar M.!
Anthony D. … Weiner (D-N.Y.) was one of the biggest “mouths” in support of the Obamacare fiasco signed into law one year ago. I have watched many broadcast and cable news network interviews pressing him on healthcare or other views and am now of the opinion he is one of the most arrogant, obnoxious, misguided and condescending representatives in congress! If you doubt my layman’s analysis please click here for a second opinion.
There is a perfectly logical and understandable reason for his current behavior. Below is a picture of little Weiner during his high school days.
I don’t know about you, but this looks to me like a kid that spent most of his time, in high school, stuffed in his own locker! I mean … THAT would definitely affect your attitude and outlook on life! 😉
Officially called the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” the healthcare law’s name is the polar opposite of reality! It is neither “protection” nor “affordable” as its name suggests. The more we learn, the more obvious is the damage to budgets, jobs, availability, choice and health-care delivery itself! Now, to validate this diagnosis, comes Weiner himself as he contemplates a “Waiver Request” for New York City!
Isn’t it interesting that the law he promoted as the best thing since the toaster, is now something which will NOT be good for NYC OR his possible run for Mayor of same? It is tempting to say this is absolutely unbelievable, but … it has become all too common for liberals to proclaim — “Do as I say … NOT, as I do!
Watch the short video below and listen closely as Weiner states “The bill and I are one”.
The most interesting thing about the video is that it was posted on the “Media Matters for America” website claiming the Right-Wing conservative media has misconstrued Weiner’s comments. There is no logic, fact or coherent thought in their single page of argument yet they (and Weiner too) would have you believe the waiver request is proof of the “flexibility” of the law! HA! How absolutely pathetic! Ah … but even more interesting than their Right2Spin something out of nothing … is what I found after a little more research.
Yep … you read it right! “Media Matters for America” has declared an “all-out campaign of guerilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel and a few conservative blogs! Obviously, FOX is doing something right and that explains Media Matters’ lame attempt to spin the “Weiner Waiver video” as something positive for the liberal view! I will not dignify their site and article about this by providing a link, but will have another article on these folks and their “backers” another day. Right now, I have digressed … soooo … back to the healthcare debacle and Weiner Roast.
“The president said, “If you have better ideas that can accomplish the same thing, go for it.” said Weiner. “I’m in the process now of trying to see if we can take [President Barack Obama] up on it in the city of New York, … and I’m taking a look at all of the money we spend in Medicaid and Medicare and maybe New York City can come up with a better plan.”
“We in New York already have hospitals, we already employ doctors and we employ nurses. We have a lot of uninsured people. … [Setting up] the exchanges is the one piece of the puzzle that would be difficult for us to do,” he said. “I’m just looking internally to whether the city can save money and have more control over its own destiny.”
If only we could get the other backward 49 states to install running water, flush toilets, electricity and abandon their Witch Doctor, Medicine Man, Shaman, Faith Healer & Voodo Queen practices then perhaps we could ALL “catch up” with the illustrious Mr. Weiner and his comrades! Dat dere’s a purdy tall order tho ain’t it?
Common sense tells you any law worth its salt would not need a waiver … yet, to date, there have been over 1000 such waivers. If these “waivers” were NOT granted, people could have lost their existing coverage or experienced large increases in premiums in order to meet the law’s minimum coverage requirements. Ya haven’t heard much about that on NBC, ABC or CBS have you? Nah … would have been too politically embarrassing!
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) stated: “… we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it …”
The law contains nearly 2700 pages (more pages than War and Peace!)
105 Billion dollars of our taxpayer money was interspersed throughout the law and WILL BE SPENT unless lawmakers “pull it out” or the law is repealed.
Justice Roger Vinson of the U.S. District Court of Pensacola Florida has ruled the “individual mandate” unconstitutional.
There is no “severability clause” in the law … meaning the unconstitutionality of the individual mandate (the requirement for all citizens to buy health insurance) renders the entire law unconstitutional! Appeals are being expedited as you read this. The Obama administration is being dragged kicking and screaming to the Supreme Court … where actually anything could happen.
The Obama administration pegged the law’s costs at 938 billion dollars (to keep it under a Trillion), but the Congressional Budget Office has now found that figure to be 1.13 Trillion dollars … … so far!
As of January 1, 2011 the law dictates you cannot use your Flex account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) to purchase over the counter medication.
Obamacare has 500 billion dollars of new or higher taxes over the next 10 years.
Unless struck down … Obamacare will require you to buy “qualifying” health insurance, as determined by government bureaucrats, or you will pay a penalty!
Capital gains taxes will increase to 23.8 percent. (a 59 % increase!)
Only 12,000 people, in the entire United States, have signed up for pre-existing conditions insurance … because most states already offer it! This was a “BIG DEAL” in the overall debate.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) states 800,000 jobs will be “killed” by Obamacare within the next decade.
Weiner’s possible request proves there is absolutely no reason to create another gigantic health-care entitlement program … especially if it is based on smoke, mirrors and fuzzy double-counting-governmental-game-playing math! Watch HHS’s (Health & Human Services) Kathleen Sebelius “step in a big pile” below:
A continuing story …
This law looks and smells like road-kill … which is exactly what our country may be if it is allowed to stand! Encourage your conservative lawmakers in their fight for repeal or defunding! If you would like to read more about this “mess”, you may do so at Heritage.org … click here.
Meanwhile … it’s time to stuff Weiner and “Media Matters” back in their lockers!
OK … by now you have probably heard about the “Tea Party”. If not, then you have likely been busy with the realities of life … like … studying for a final, putting food on the table, raising kids … or … you have simply become sickened by anything having to do with politics! Whatever the case, let’s just catch up real quick. TEA is a clever little acrostic which stands for Taxed Enough Already – hence, the “Tea Party”. It began in 2009 and one of the “fore-mothers” of the movement describes it as follows:
The goal of the Tea Party Movement is to free the American people, their livelihood, their property – physical and intellectual, their time, their wallets, and their families from a federal government that has, under both parties, grown to be a political phagocyte that sees individual liberty and freedom as so much debris in the body politic.
Keli (“Liberty Belle”) Carender
Whoa … a phagocyte? I had to look THAT one up!
Phagocytes consist of a group of immune cells tasked with eating dead or injured body cells, bad bacteria or viruses that enter or are otherwise present in the body. Yuuuuummyy! So, Keli Carender is basically saying that the government has become a fake protector that sees our freedoms as something BAD! Ya know, I think she’s right!
On a less medical note, the basic Tea Party philosophies include:
1) Fiscal Responsibility
2) Constitutionally Limited Government
3) Free Markets.
If you agree with any of this, then you have the potential to side with the Tea Party … if not outwardly, as a rally attender or contributor, then perhaps merely quietly with partial or full conviction. Is it the “face” of the Republican party? Not really, but its philosophies align closely with traditional Republican beliefs.
Now let’s take a look at the true unveiling of the Democrat face of this country.
“Flee Party” roots are in Wisconsin (2011) where Democrat senators ran from responsibilities, hijacked the legislative process and supported pickets against the taxpayers and voters of that state. It has now grown to include Democrat senators in Indiana.
“Flee Party” beliefs are:
RUUUUUUUUNNNNNN!!!
Ah yes, run from reality, run from responsibility, run if you don’t get your way and run from the tough decisions of life. Any mealy mouthed attempt to rationalize their chants as honorable (“Bring back Democracy” or “This is what Democracy looks like”) … is … absurd!
Euphoria is defined as … “a feeling of happiness, confidence, or well-being sometimes exaggerated in pathological states as mania”. If this does not perfectly describe Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and their merry band of crybaby Wisconsin & Indiana democrats, then I don’t know what does!
Democrats (i.e. Liberals) continue to believe in a big government tax and spend mantra intended to create a “nanny state” utopia … to take care of you from cradle to grave. We are seeing, in this current budget crisis, that the “nanny” is flat broke, there is no such thing as a perfect socio-politico-legal system and attempts to stop the big spending attitudes chasing that impossibility are falling on deaf ears! It is time to wake up to reality!
So, YOUNG PEOPLE … if your personal philosophy is to live with your “parents” for the rest of your life … then … vote for a Democrat next time! Your hope and dream will come true!
If however, you enjoy your freedoms, believe you should be able to reap the benefits of your own hard work, believe in personal responsibility and want to keep the governmental “big brother” out of your bank account … then fight for CONSERVATIVE beliefs!
Fight or “Flight” … it’s YOUR choice!
The right to speak, write or otherwise present a point of view is protected by the First Amendment of our Constitution and the “spin” of those presentations is everywhere! You read it in the newspapers, hear it on the radio, see it on television, follow it on Twitter, hear it from professors, experience it through Internet searches and on and on and on. Your consumption, of that information, determines the type of “spin” you experience … and … make no mistake — these personal experiences profoundly form your view of life!
I wish there was no “spin” involved at all in the media. Wouldn’t it be nice to just get the “unvarnished truth”? Reporting seems to have become more of an art form with heightened dramatic effect … as opposed to a strict reporting of the facts. When I was young, I tended to trust everything presented as news because these were “trusted” journalists or reporters that had the “best interests of our country” in mind … right? I was trusting, naive and too busy to spend a lot of time checking things out. Now, I know better and it makes me wonder what all I have missed!
The reality is … IT IS SPIN CITY OUT THERE! We are being pummeled by agendas, demonstrations, talking heads and the presidential “Bully Pulpit”. As a result, our voting decisions are often based on sound bites and 30 second ads. We are seduced by slick talkers with lofty, deceptive rhetoric and mountains of promises.
It is time to ask more questions, turn over more rocks, examine the issues and scrutinize the candidates with an equally sized magnifying glass. Most of all … we MUST examine ourselves! We need to know who we are, what we believe in and what we want this country to be.
To that end, this site will join a growing number of conservative views (“spins” if you will) based on personal experience, observations and research. You may not agree with everything you see here … whether it is my lame attempt at humor or another site’s statistics, but we may learn a tidbit here and there … and in so doing … we may also learn a little bit more about ourselves.
Many high school marching bands, across our great country, have cut their teeth on this rousing song. It was one of several productions which was easily memorized, fun to play and actually assisted in the completion of the choreography on the street or gridiron. We would step smartly, play well and as long as the “Dancing Tubas” or the Bass Drum players didn’t trample or knock anyone unconscious, we called it a success! I must have played this song a hundred times and never knew the words … check them out.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Plunge right through that line!
Run the ball clear down the field,
A touchdown sure this time. (U rah rah)
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Fight on for her fame
Fight! Fellows! – fight, fight, fight!
We’ll win this game.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Stand up, Badgers, sing!
“Forward” is our driving spirit,
Loyal voices ring.
On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Raise her glowing flame
Stand, Fellows, let us now
Salute her name!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (I love that Geico commercial), you have seen or heard at least something about the union tantrums in and around Wisconsin’s capitol building. There is surely a lot of true talent and skilled labor amongst the demonstrators, but the one thing for which unions are renowned is their ability to gather, yell, scream, blow whistles, beat drums and basically just throw a “hissy fit”! If you have raised children, it is exactly the same sort of behavior displayed by the very young when you tell them, “I’m really sorry, we just can’t afford the Happy Meal this time.” Oh man … once that phrase leaves your mouth, it’s like a bomb goes off … tears, piercing screams, pounding of fists, plopping on the floor right in the middle of the restaurant … hmmm … wait a minute … sound familiar Wisconsin? Children are sheltered from certain realities and their rudimentary reasoning skills render explanations basically worthless. The bottom line is, you are the adult and you know what needs to happen.
Soooo … why does the recent senate “walkout”, of 14 Wisconsin Democrats, compel me to yell … “ON, WISCONSIN!”?
It’s a battle cry of sorts, that’s why! Last November the voters of this country soundly rejected the big government and big spending habits of the past. It’s also in anticipation of courageous representatives who see the dangers of “business as usual” and responsibly deal with the “tantrums of the minority” as they move to change things through the vote of the people! I must admit a degree of “nanny-nanny-boo-boo” in seeing the “other team” run for the hills in the face of inevitable defeat! Oh, I know about the plea for more civility in public discourse, but my feelings here are nothing compared to the nasty, name calling, deception and arrogance being displayed in and around Wisconsin’s statehouse! These protestors and senators are attempting to steal the Wisconsin representative vote!
While it bothers me to hear of taxpayers paying for public employee compensation which exceeds or doubles that of the “same level” private sector, there is another item that is even more disturbing. Taxpayers, as a whole, are likely and sometimes unknowingly providing money to support Democrat party candidates! Your taxes pay the salaries of public union employees — the salaries have union dues extracted — and those dues are used by union entities to assist Democrat campaigns. This is not new, but I guarantee it is something the union leaders hope will remain relatively unseen … just another one of those “dirty little secrets” they would rather sweep under the rug.
Now, how about the things we CAN see. Last week, public employees and doctors were collaborating in the streets of Wisconsin to create fake doctor’s excuses! Are you kidding me … really … boldly and in front of TV cameras? These were teachers no less! You would think they would know better, but noooooo … they admitted they were getting doctor’s notes so they wouldn’t be fired! Obviously, the “notes” would be used to receive sick pay! Now, I don’t think the majority of teachers, in this country, would stoop to this depth of deceit. Those that do however (union or not), are effectively teaching our children to lie and then act like “spoiled brats” on the taxpayer dime! One union leader (interviewed on camera) was absolutely unwilling to answer whether or not this type of behavior was condoned by his organization! His silence and avoidance of the question was deafening!
The unions say they are OK with the increased personal contribution amounts in health-care and pensions, but the rub is in the “collective bargaining” restrictions. Are these the same “bargaining” processes that allow the “bumping back” of less senior employees without regard to productivity or performance? These “collective” agreements actually breed mediocrity rather than encourage exceptionalism. I have known union members who have been laid off because they were the “low man on the pole” … NOT because of their “productive rank”. That’s just irritating!
While the unions suggest they stand up for worker’s rights, how is it fair to FORCE union membership rather than allow the “right of choice” like other “right to work” states? I know there are differences in public and private unions, but overall, statistics seem to indicate that “right to work” states have economies which are in much better shape than those states who force union membership (for an interesting perspective on this click here).
Governor Scott Walker should be applauded for his serious attention to the goals of the November vote. The Democrat senators, on the other hand, are holding the state of Wisconsin “hostage” by running off to an “undisclosed location” … attempting to “take their ball and go home”. The truth is … their “home” is in the senate where they should debate like men and women, vote their conscience and handle themselves like adults!
The choices are clear … “Union (temper tantrum) Mob Rule” … or … a “Civil” Representative Republic.
I’m with Governor Walker … NO HAPPY MEAL THIS TIME!
“On, Wisconsin”!
